Shiri Adventures is committed to delivering unforgettable travel experiences through expertly guided safaris, mountain expeditions, and cultural tours across Tanzania and East Africa.
These Terms and Conditions govern the relationship between the client and Shiri Adventures And Safaris (hereafter referred to as “the Company”) and apply in the following circumstances:
When you book a trip directly through Shiri Adventures.
When you book through our authorized partners or sales representatives.
When you book via affiliated travel agencies or online marketplaces representing Shiri Adventures.
By confirming a booking with us whether directly or through a partner you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
These terms outline the mutual rights, obligations, and expectations associated with booking and participating in any of our tours, safaris, or mountain expeditions in Tanzania.
At Shiri Adventures, we proudly uphold the following commitments and standards:
We are fully licensed and authorized to operate mountain trekking expeditions and wildlife safaris across the United Republic of Tanzania. Our operations meet all legal and regulatory requirements.
With extensive experience in the tourism industry, we have successfully arranged memorable journeys for thousands of travelers exploring Tanzania’s breathtaking landscapes.
Our team including Kilimanjaro guides, safari driver-guides, and travel consultants is professionally trained, highly knowledgeable, and passionate about delivering safe and enriching experiences.
We are committed to honesty and integrity in all our communications. All descriptions of our safaris, treks, and travel services in marketing materials and advertisements reflect the true nature of what we offer no exaggeration or misrepresentation.
Shiri Adventures is a tour operator, not a travel agency. We personally manage and operate all aspects of your safari or mountain climb. The only exceptions are accommodation bookings with external hotel partners and flight arrangements, which may be handled by our trusted travel associates.
We are committed to creating a positive impact in the communities we work in. Our staff receive competitive compensation, and we actively contribute to community development projects across Tanzania.
At Shiri Adventures, we value your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. To ensure smooth and safe travel arrangements, we may require certain personal details from you. This includes your full name, age, nationality, passport details, dietary preferences, and any relevant medical information.
We use this information strictly for operational purposes such as securing park entry permits with the authorities of Tanzania’s wildlife areas, coordinating with our accommodation partners, and ensuring your dietary or medical needs are well catered for throughout your journey.
Your data will be handled with the highest level of confidentiality and shared only with parties directly involved in facilitating your trip. We do not sell, distribute, or disclose your personal information to third parties beyond what is necessary for your travel experience.
To protect you from travel scams and ensure authenticity, all official communications with Shiri Adventures should be conducted through the following verified channels:
Email: Only use email addresses ending with @shiriadventures.com
Phone and WhatsApp: Contact numbers listed exclusively on our official website
Live Chat: Available directly on our official website for real-time assistance
Thanks to our strict communication protocols, Shiri Adventures has maintained a secure and trusted relationship with all our clients. While we’ve never encountered cases of impersonation, we encourage all travelers to remain vigilant.
If you ever doubt the authenticity of a message or representative claiming to be from our team, please reach out immediately to our management at info@shiriadventures.com for verification
Your journey with Shiri Adventures begins with a simple phone call or email. Once you reach out, a dedicated travel consultant will be assigned to guide you through every step tailoring your itinerary, handling arrangements, and being your go-to contact throughout the booking process.
Once all details are confirmed, we will issue an invoice and request a deposit to secure your booking. Your tour is officially confirmed once the 20% deposit reaches our account, at which point your consultant will notify you.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, full payment must be completed no later than 2 weeks before your scheduled trip. This ensures we can confirm your accommodations, park permits, transfers, and all other logistics many of which require prepayment in Tanzania. Failure to complete payment on time without prior notice or arrangement may result in the cancellation of your booking, and deposits may be forfeited based on our cancellation terms.
Please note that you are responsible for all payment-related transaction fees. This includes both sending and receiving charges when making wire transfers. For credit card payments, a surcharge of 3.5% applies. Should your deposit or final payment be incomplete due to any reason, we will request the remaining balance upon your arrival in Tanzania.
Bookings Involving Minors
Only individuals aged 18 or above may book with Shiri Adventures. For minors, bookings must be made by a parent, guardian, or legal representative, who in turn accepts all our Terms and Conditions on their behalf. Minors must always be supervised by an adult during the trip, and we do not offer childcare or supervision services.
It is the responsibility of the accompanying adult to ensure all necessary documentation and permissions are in place for a minor’s entry and participation in the tour. Shiri Adventures holds no responsibility for denied entries or travel issues related to the minor’s documentation.
Group & Third-Party Bookings
If you’re a travel agent, tour leader, or group coordinator making a booking on behalf of others, you are considered the main point of contact for the entire group. In this role, you are responsible for:
Ensuring all group members are informed of and agree to these Terms and Conditions.
Handling all payments and providing timely updates to all participants.
Sharing accurate personal information for all travelers.
Managing communication regarding itinerary changes, travel dates, and logistics.
If you cannot take full responsibility for these aspects, we recommend each participant book individually to avoid misunderstandings or miscommunication.
we are committed to transparent and fair pricing. Once your booking has been confirmed and a deposit is received, your quoted price is locked in and will not change. However, in rare and unforeseen circumstances such as official changes to Tanzanian government park fees, taxes, or other regulatory charges affecting tourism price adjustments may become necessary.
Should such a situation arise, we will provide you with an official copy of the public notice outlining the updated charges. You will then be given two options:
You may choose to cancel your tour and receive a refund in line with our standard cancellation policies.
Alternatively, you may accept the revised pricing and cover the additional cost accordingly.
Our priority is to maintain transparency and keep you informed every step of the way. Let us know if you’d like help formatting this section for your website, or when you’re ready for the next one.
Client-Initiated Changes
At Shiri Adventures, we understand that travel plans can evolve. If you wish to make changes to your itinerary before your trip and those changes do not incur additional costs, we will implement them free of charge. However, if your changes lead to added expenses such as alterations in accommodation or transport those costs will need to be covered by you.
Should you choose to discontinue the tour once it has started, either voluntarily or due to unforeseen circumstances, you will be responsible for any resulting expenses. These may include transportation, accommodation, or other logistical costs. Please note that missed services, including meals, excursions, or activities not used at your discretion, are non-refundable.
Company-Initiated Changes
While we strive to deliver each experience as planned, rare and unforeseen events (such as adverse weather or park closures) may require itinerary adjustments. In such cases, we will communicate promptly and provide suitable alternatives without compromising your overall experience.
Changes Beyond Our Control
Shiri Adventures is not liable for delays or disruptions caused by third parties or circumstances outside our control, including flight cancellations, natural disasters, or force majeure events. In such instances, any additional expenses (such as extra hotel nights or transport) must be covered by you or your travel insurance provider.
Should you wish to change your travel dates after making your payment, you must notify Shiri Adventures no later than 60 days prior to your original tour start date. The newly selected travel dates must fall within one year of your initially scheduled itinerary.
Please be aware that many service providers in Tanzania such as domestic airlines, lodges, and hotels may charge penalties or apply seasonal pricing adjustments when travel dates are altered. Domestic flights, in particular, are typically non-refundable and non-changeable. In such cases, you will be responsible for any additional costs incurred as a result of the rescheduling.
Cancellation by the Client
Should you decide to cancel your trip, please be aware that many lodges and domestic airlines in Tanzania impose penalty fees. To cover these charges, Shiri Adventures applies the following cancellation policy based on your scheduled tour start date:
A non-refundable deposit of $100 USD per person will be retained in all cases, though this amount may be transferred to future travel dates.
10% cancellation fee for cancellations made more than 90 days before departure.
30% cancellation fee for cancellations made 60–89 days before departure.
60% cancellation fee for cancellations made 30–59 days before departure.
80% cancellation fee for cancellations made 8–29 days before departure.
No refund will be issued for cancellations made 0–7 days before the start of the tour.
Please note: If lodge or airline penalties exceed the percentages listed above, the non-refundable amount will be adjusted accordingly. Additionally, any bank fees related to the refund process will be deducted from your returned amount.
In the event you choose to reschedule instead of cancel, lodges and airlines are often more flexible and may waive penalty fees. While Shiri Adventures will make every effort to reschedule your tour at no extra cost, the final decision lies with the third-party providers involved.
We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance that covers cancellations due to unforeseen events such as illness, missed flights, or emergencies. Upon request, we are happy to provide detailed documentation of incurred expenses for submission to your insurance provider.
Cancellation by Shiri Adventures
In the rare and unfortunate case that Shiri Adventures must cancel your tour, we will issue a 100% refund of any payments you have made to us.
Before joining your adventure with Shiri Adventures, it’s essential that all your travel documents are in order.
Your passport must be valid for at least six months from the date you enter Tanzania and contain at least two blank pages for visa and entry stamps. A valid visa is required to enter Tanzania. The most convenient method to obtain this is by applying online through the official Tanzania Immigration Department website.
While we are happy to offer general visa guidance, please understand that our advice should not be considered exhaustive or legally binding. Visa policies and entry requirements are subject to change, and we strongly recommend confirming the most current information with the Embassy or Consulate of the United Republic of Tanzania in your country. Any content on our website relating to visas, vaccinations, or entry policies is provided for informational purposes only and does not serve as a formal guarantee.
All visa-related costs and entry fees are the responsibility of the traveler.
Shiri Adventures shall not be held liable in the rare case that you are denied entry into Tanzania or any transit country. Should this occur, no refunds will be issued, and rescheduling will not be possible, as many expenses including park fees and accommodations are prepaid and non-refundable.
Hotel Accommodation
Our prices for open group departures include shared accommodation in double or twin rooms with fellow travelers. If you are traveling alone, we will match you with a same-sex traveler to share a room. Should you prefer single accommodation, please inform our team at the time of booking. Additional charges for single supplements will apply.
For our private adventures, accommodation types and arrangements are customized based on your preferences in consultation with our expert team.
The safari and Kilimanjaro climbing tours listed on our website include the hotel accommodation described in the respective travel packages. However, in the event that a listed hotel is fully booked, we will inform you and offer an alternative hotel option prior to confirming your tour and processing payment.
Tented Accommodation on Mount Kilimanjaro
Our Kilimanjaro climbing packages include shared tented accommodation (two travelers per tent). If you are traveling solo, we will pair you with a same-sex traveler to share a tent.
For those who wish to have a private tent, please notify our team during the booking process. Additional charges for single tent supplements will apply. Kindly note that single tented accommodation is not available on the Marangu route of Mount Kilimanjaro or Mount Meru due to park regulations.
It is your responsibility to assess your physical fitness for a Kilimanjaro climb or wildlife adventure and to evaluate your health conditions. If you are uncertain, we recommend seeking professional medical advice. Our consultants are available to offer guidance upon request.
We may require you to provide certain medical details and complete a medical form. If you have any pre-existing medical conditions that could affect your ability to visit remote or mountainous regions of Tanzania, potentially endangering yourself or other participants, we may request that the form be signed by a licensed medical practitioner.
Failure to submit the completed and signed medical form may result in the cancellation of your tour, subject to applicable cancellation fees as outlined in the cancellation section of these Terms and Conditions.
In our sole discretion, we may decline your participation in our tours if your medical condition, whether physical or mental, renders you unfit for the adventure, posing a risk to yourself or other participants.
All medical information provided will be handled in accordance with the “Treatment of Your Personal Information” clause in these Terms and Conditions.
We may cancel your participation in our tours without a refund under the following circumstances:
If we discover that the medical information you provided is false, inaccurate, or incomplete.
If your medical condition deteriorates during the tour to a degree that puts you or other participants at risk.
You will be responsible for any costs associated with such cancellations.
If you have special medical or dietary requirements, it is your responsibility to inform us at least 30 days before your scheduled arrival in Tanzania. We will make every effort to accommodate your needs, including providing vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and halal meal options. However, you agree that we will not be liable for failing to meet any other special needs, and no refunds will be issued in such cases.
Additionally, you acknowledge that some facilities or services you may be accustomed to in your home country might be unavailable or inaccessible in Tanzania.
Travel insurance is mandatory for participation in our tours. Failure to provide proof of adequate insurance may result in disqualification from the adventure, with no refund offered.
Please note that insurance is not typically included in our travel packages. This service is available as an optional add-on.
Your insurance should cover emergency medical expenses, including personal injury, evacuation, repatriation, trip cancellation, curtailment, and other related expenses.
For those climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, your insurance must cover high-altitude trekking (up to 6,000 meters / 19,858 feet) and include helicopter evacuation coverage.
It is your responsibility to ensure that your insurance package provides comprehensive coverage for all relevant risks. Additionally, you must keep your insurance provider informed of your travel plans and the associated hazards and risks.
In the event of an insurance claim, it is your responsibility to notify your insurance provider and adhere to the necessary procedures for indemnification or reimbursement. While we will offer reasonable assistance, we are not liable for the outcome of any insurance claim.
Please note that we provide general, non-medical advice regarding vaccinations and immunizations required or recommended for your visit to the United Republic of Tanzania.
For personalized guidance, we strongly recommend consulting a licensed physician to determine any specific medical precautions or vaccinations necessary for your trip to Tanzania.
It is essential and mandatory to adhere to all safety instructions and rules provided by our guides. The chief guide’s decisions regarding expedition arrangements, team management, itinerary, objectives, and other expedition-related matters during the Kilimanjaro trek are final.
If the chief guide determines that your physical condition or actions may pose a risk to yourself or other participants, they have the authority to decide that you must descend. In such cases, the chief guide’s assistant and porters will assist you on your way down.
By booking with us, you acknowledge that your adventures may take you to remote areas, such as National Parks and rural regions, where medical assistance may be limited or unavailable compared to what is offered in your home country.
You also understand that some of the activities we offer may involve inherent risks to your health and safety, such as wildlife encounters or high-altitude trekking. You agree that you have thoroughly assessed these risks and accept full responsibility for them.
Furthermore, you release us from any claims or actions arising from losses, damages, injuries, or death that may result from the inherent risks associated with your travel in Tanzania.
You will be held financially responsible for any intentional destruction or damage to our property, including but not limited to Kilimanjaro tents, safari vehicles, personal expedition gear you may have rented from us, hotel furniture, appliances, and other items.
Any compensation for damage or destruction must be settled in Tanzania before your departure to your home country.
Certain aspects of your tour, such as accommodation and local air travel, are subcontracted to accommodation providers and air carriers.
While we carefully select our partners, we do not have control over their performance, and as such, we cannot be held responsible for your experience with them. Additionally, please note that while staying at hotels and lodges, their terms and conditions will apply. Similarly, the Conditions of Carriage and relevant aviation conventions will govern your relationship with the airlines.
Therefore, we will not assume responsibility for any claims arising from the performance of parties other than Shiri Adventures and our employees.
You acknowledge that it is your responsibility to carry a reasonable amount of money to cover incidental and regular travel expenses, such as souvenirs, tips, meals (if not included), alcoholic beverages, and other personal costs. We will not be held responsible for your failure to cover any such expenses for any reason.
While all group camping equipment is included in our Kilimanjaro packages, you are responsible for bringing your own personal gear, primarily clothing suitable for climbing. Our consultants will provide you with a list of necessary items for your expedition.
If you lack any required gear, you may rent it from us. All rental equipment is new and replaced every six months. However, please note that the cost of renting personal gear is not included in your tour price, and additional fees will apply.
Before the start of your Mount Kilimanjaro or Mount Meru climb, our wildlife consultant may request to inspect your personal equipment to ensure it meets the necessary standards for the adventure
We are not responsible for any luggage that is lost, destroyed, or delayed by airlines or any transportation provider other than our company.
If you have booked a Kilimanjaro climbing tour with us and your luggage is lost or delayed, and it contains climbing gear, we will provide you with the necessary equipment free of charge from our rental shop. Please note that we will only provide the specific items that were in your luggage. Any additional gear will be provided at the regular rental cost.
Furthermore, we are not responsible for contacting the airline to check the status of your lost or delayed luggage, nor for arranging its delivery to the hotel after it arrives. If your luggage arrives after you, you will be required to pay a delivery fee for transportation from Kilimanjaro International Airport to your hotel.
You are responsible for the safekeeping of your valuables, including money, electronics, jewelry, and other personal belongings, during our tours. We are not liable for any lost, stolen, or damaged property.
If you prefer, you may request our managers to store your valuables, personal possessions, or luggage for safekeeping. In this case, we will securely lock them in our company safe, which is monitored by continuous video surveillance and an alarm system. We will assume full responsibility for any property entrusted to us for safekeeping.
By participating in our tours, you acknowledge and agree that our employees and other participants may take photos, videos, and other media during the journey, which may include your image. You grant us and our partners permission to use these photos and videos for marketing, promotion, and advertising purposes, without any compensation or royalty payments to you.
If you do not wish for your image to be captured in any photos or videos, please inform our staff before or during the tour.
We shall not be held liable for any events or consequences arising from force majeure, including, but not limited to, natural disasters, war or military actions, mechanical breakdowns, fire, civil disturbances, labor strikes, actions by government authorities, political unrest, insurrections, extreme weather conditions, or any other circumstances beyond our reasonable control that could not have been anticipated.
