Lake Chala

Lake Chala is a crater lake in a caldera located on the border of Tanzania and Kenya on the eastern end of Kilimanjaro. This place is a real find for tourists who like panoramic views and quiet recreation.

In the morning, after the transfer to the lake, you will find yourself on the edge of the crater to see the wonderful views of the tropical forest and the lake. On the way to the lake, you are highly likely to see baboons. At the lake you can go canoeing, relishing the beautiful African nature. Your lunch will be served afterwards. On the way back to the hotel you will see Mt Kilimanjaro in all its glory.

  • Day 1 - Moshi - Lake Chala

    Early Morning Departure:
    ➔Start your day early to make the most of your time at Lake Chala.
    ➔Depart from your accommodation in Moshi or Arusha and head towards Lake Chala. The drive takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.

    Arrival and Hike to the Lake:
    ➔Upon arrival at Lake Chala, you'll need to register at the reception and pay the entrance fee.
    ➔Begin your hike down to the lake. The trail is relatively steep but manageable for most fitness levels.
    ➔Enjoy the scenic views as you descend through lush vegetation and rocky terrain.


    Exploration and Relaxation at the Lake:
    ➔Once you reach the shores of Lake Chala, take some time to soak in the breathtaking beauty of the crater lake.
    ➔You can go for a swim in the crystal-clear waters or simply relax on the shoreline and admire the surroundings.


    Picnic Lunch:
    ➔After some leisure time at the lake, find a suitable spot for a picnic lunch.
    ➔You can bring your own packed lunch or arrange for a packed lunch through your tour operator.
    ➔Enjoy your meal while relishing the tranquility and natural splendor of Lake Chala.


    Nature Walk and Birdwatching:
    ➔Take a guided nature walk around the lake's surroundings and explore the diverse flora and fauna.
