You can’t get much closer to the renowned dunes of Sossusvlei and the evocative panoramas of Dead Vlei, accessible through an exclusive-use gate. Climb Sossusvlei’s 300-metre red dunes and gaze upon oceans of sand. Hike through Sesriem Canyon, carved by water over the millennia. Float above the world’s oldest desert in a hot-air balloon. See the desert come alive on nature walks, drives, e-bikes, or low-impact quad bikes. Totally solar-powered, Wilderness Little Kulala’s clean, modern styling effortlessly embraces its Namib vistas. Each suite’s rooftop invites private sundowners and suppers, and a roll-out bed on your shaded deck is perfect for an afternoon siesta or heavenly night’s sleep. Desert-adapted wildlife to be seen on the Kulala Wilderness Reserve includes ostrich, springbok, gemsbok, spotted hyaena and the occasional brown hyaena. In addition, smaller creatures such as bat-eared fox, black-backed jackal, porcupine, Cape fox and aardwolf may be seen. Once farmland used for subsistence goat farming, the Kulala Wilderness Reserve had very little indigenous wildlife. In 1996 Wilderness stepped in to rehabilitate the area and today the land and its wildlife have returned to their former glory.
